Kiber_all is a conceptual design to renovate the extreme necessity of one of the Largest Slums in the world KIBERA, with over 1 million inhabitants and half the population being HIV positive, 1 out of 300 have access to proper sanitation and the own Kenyan Government refusing acknowledgement of it as a settlement, meaning no schools, medicinal clinics, sanitation, water points, electricity, sewage, dumping site, etc. It was this site that I chose to design and revivify through sustainable design and creativity.

Buddha, represents the dichotomy of the human mind, body and spirit. We all have an energy inside of us (aura) and when used collectively via chi we can maintain great health mentally, physically, and emotionally. There are two visual distinctions in this mural illustrating the ever popular yin and yang philosophy using a calm blue along with an aggressive red. I use this specific combination of forces as it corresponds to the balance in nature emitting a more vibrant alignment eliminating any imbalances, thus creating a more golden life. My piece then enters into the 3rd dimension by exercising the art of fitness known as Yoga. This creation then comes alive and full of energy giving off its spiritual healing established by powerful, yet peaceful foundations of relaxation. Through proper meditation and breathing, one can use thought to control the body and use physicality to ease the mind giving way to an amazing nirvana, as intense bodily pressures filters through the mind accepting the most truest serenity. A life without any euphoric realms make all dreams and desires irrelevant!

Deadttached is a piece dedicated to Palestine, where for over half a century it has been occupied and unjustly abused. The world has become numb and detached from this situation and others like it. The image portrays an anonymous U.S. soldier about to kill a Palestinian Freedom Fighter, the bullets say “fundead by:” and what im trying to say that we all are part of this catastrophe and need to do something about it, for one educated ourselves, and second involving oneself through protest and so forth.

Bio Cells is a concept that reaches the community of Chalmette, Lower Ninth Ward and New Orleans as a whole. After the catastrophic event of Hurricane Katrina leaving 1 million people affected our proposal is a way to continue life after the problematic elements of the site, especially flooding. As well as a solution for the people affected who have not been helped. Housing up to 1,600 people through modular housing units in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. The idea is that it is a conceptual living organism that grows according to its needs. The project consists of a parametric cell system that determined the program as well as the spaces needed to accommodate the program requirements for a Biodiversity Center. Within the program we implemented housing units that would be occupied by residents of the surrounding area during an extreme weather condition such as a flood surge like Hurricane Katrina. The project also integrates biological programs such as Necropsy, Genetics, Ecological, Ecosystem, and Green House laboratories. Another integrated element to the program is the Katrina Memorial, this aspect to the program helps to introduce what occurred during and after Hurricane Katrina. We feel this addition to the program will uplift the city of Chalmette and New Orleans as a whole. The ground level offers a number of open passages for all people through the transit transportation system. The elevated Structure gradually rises from the ground up to 50’ in the air, way above flood level. With this movement in elevation residents, visitors, workers, as well as Habitat for Humanity inhabitants will have a multiplicity of experiences architecturally, culturally, and environmentally. With that in mind the primary goal to this project is for the concept to grow to its needs, and for it to continue to progress even through the extreme measures of tragedy.
